Motorola CPS Entitlement Key

How to obtain 25kz entitlement keys
In order to obtain the 25kz keys that will allow for wide band programing, their is a narrow band training that you have to take.

There are five keys.

First off you have to have a MOL account. Go to traning, click on the LMS drop down, then in the upper right , enter narrowbanding, as one word, in the search box.

It will bring up the following: PRD0001.00E - FCC NARROWBANDING

MANDATE TRAINING

Click on it and complete. Wait about 4 hours for the record to get logged into the system, then go to
case magement and open a case stating that you have taken the training, include your cert #, and that
you are requesting the keys.

Within 24-36 hrs, you will recieve a e-mail about the ablity to order the keys.

At this point, go buying center>search catalog, enter in the part number and place your order.

Waring, the system is not setup to order all the keys at the same time, they must be ordered indivially.

After placeing your order, within 24-36 hours you will recieve e-mail with the key code.

DO NOT LOSE THEM, THEY ARE ONLY ISSUEABLE ONCE.

Here is the part numbers:

Mototrbo – HKVN4046A
Professional Series – HKVN4180A
PR860 – HKVN4181A
Commercial Series – HKVN4182A
CP185 – HKVN4183A

Motorola CPS Entitlement Key

Supposedly newer TRBO radios come from Moto with enforced narrowband. One cannot select 25 KHz channel spacing (5 KHz deviation).

However, one can sign an agreement with Moto, promising not to use the TRBO radio on narrowband-enfoced frequencies. Moto will then supply special CPS (an "entitlement") which allows for wideband programming.

Surely this is just a CPS tweak. Anyone have any ideas? I'll be in a position to start experimenting very soon.

Wideband TX is critical for analog ham operation.

It's an entitlement ID. Basically, you get a code that you type into standard MOTOTRBO CPS, which then gets authenticated against Motorola's servers. If that comes back OK, CPS will let you program wideband frequencies on that PC only. You need a code for each PC you run CPS on.

Similar to the idea with Canada Full Frequency Range, which lets you program 800MHz frequencies above 866MHz if you can show that the radio is going to be used in Canada.

The entitlements for wideband and Canada Full Frequency Range are free, but you have to be able to show that you have a legitimate CPS license. This will screw most of the ham community!

The entitlement stays around even if you uninstall CPS and reinstall, so I suspect it's just a registry key somewhere to turn this stuff on and off.

If they were smart, they would have made it so ham, marine etc frequencies didn't require narrowband but enforced it everywhere else, as they did on the APX CPS.

Its the FCC thats mandating it for all manufacturers.

This 25 kHz Service Tool Software is intended to be used outside of the United States of America (USA) or under specific circumstances within the USA.

Radios manufactured after 1/1/2013 or which have received FCC approval after 1/1/2011 are not authorized for 25 kHz operation on FCC part 90 frequencies. I understand that leveraging this tool to enable 25 kHz on said equipment may not be in compliance with the FCC Narrowbanding mandate.

It is the responsibility of the FCC licensee to comply with FCC Narrowbanding rules and not apply these international & service tools in a manner that is inconsistent with the Narrowbanding regulations or the directions provided by the manufacturer

The test for whether or not you have the 25 kHz entitlement (or hack) active is to _write_ to the radio. Just being able to enter the frequency is not enough of a test, as it will allow it regardless. When you attempt to write to the codeplug, it will complain if the CPS doesn't have the entitlement. You can also check by going to to the Features -> View Application Features menu, where it will list that it has the 25 kHz entitlement if you did the entitlement legitimately. The hack doesn't indicate it's installed there, but if you try to write to a radio, you'll find it works.

I think these instructions need updating. Maybe the website has changed? When you hover your mouse over "Training", a drop-down appears that says "LMS Training Center". When you click on "LMS Training Center", a new browser window opens and there's no where on the upper right to search for the word "narrowbanding". Instead, on the right side, MIDDLE of the page, there's a SEARCH box and a drop-down with some options. You can type your word search and click the magnifying glass to run the search.

Or, there's an Advanced Search link you can click on. Problem is, no matter how I search, I get nothing. No matter whether I search for "narrowbanding" or "PRD0001.00E" or "FCC NARROWBANDING", I get nothing. Zero results found. So I'm not sure what's going on here. I've already signed the software license agreement and it was accepted.

I had the same problem in the failed search for PRD0001. The Motorola agent on the phone stated I did not have permission to use the training option. He gave me permissions on the call and I closed the LMS - Learning Management System and entered again from the menu option and I could then search and load the training module. I suggest a call to Motorola support if your search fails to verify your account has permission to Motorola Online - LMS.
